About Album

The great Argentinian musician Chango Spasiuk and Norwegian guitarist Per Einar Whatle, in their first musical project have created a burning, expressive and melancholy world.

Per Einar and Chango met in Argentina in 2017, and they immediately begun a musical love affair. Although they come from opposite extreme regions of the planet, ice cold North and warm South, they soon found a musical landscape in common. The music they have created lives in the scorching heat of the red soil of the northern area of Argentina; the intense cold of frozen winters, in the starry tropical nights and the dancing polar lights up North. From this meeting we can listen to a music that expresses hope, desire, stubbornness and embrace.

The already legendary accordionist from Argentina Chango Spasiuk has visited Oslo in two occasions, in 2005 and 2015. He is often considered as a Chamamé Piazzolla. His musical foundations are rooted in the music that is traditional in the Northern area of Argentina; but he has managed to reach beyond all his musical limits. Spasiuk is the most important bearer of the Chamamé tradition, which has been modernized and spread all over the world.

Norwegian guitarist and composer Per Einar Whatle, a specialist in String Swing and Latin American folk music is renown in Norway for his projects such as “Salto Mortale”, (formerly Christiansand String Swing Ensemble), as well as the television series “Next Summer”.

The band is also backed by the regular virtuoso percussionist and guitarist Marcos Villalba; as well as the star team of Norwegian jazz and Norwegian folk musicians: Steinar Raknes (Stillhouse, Skáidi, Ola Kvernberg Trio, etc.), Kenneth Ekornes (Brazz Brothers, Nymark Collective, Grupo Sanza, Batagraf, etc.) and folk singer Anne Gravir Klykken (Winter moon, and many other collaborations, as with Iver Kleive, Bugge Wesseltoft, Ingebjørg Bratland, Knut Buen).
