“TIERRA COLORADA at the Colon Theatre” is not merely the register of a live
show in one of the most important venues in the world. It stands for yet another
great event in Chango Spasiuk’s rich musical career, which was recorded the 6 th of
October, 2013, as part of the cycle “Interpretes Argentinos”. The presentation was
divided in two different sets: the first one was played by Chango and his sextet:
while the second set was the development of the “Suite del Nordeste” together with
Rafael Gintoli in first violin, and the Estación Buenos Aires chamber music
Orchestra, with arrangements and conduction by Popi Spatocco, displaying a series
of own compositions in a chamber music setting.
Throughout this great musical journey, Chango unfolds many classic compositions
present in previous works, plus three unpublished tunes: “Vera”, Acento
Misionero”, and “Gratitud”, and it is also worth mentioning a memorable version
of “Libertango”, which was used for the closure of both the concert, and the
recording. The final mastering was done at the Ion Studios in Buenos Aires City,
between March and April 2014. The artistic production was carried out by Chango
Spasiuk and Popi Spatocco.
