It is the study of over a 100 years of music which was brought to Argentina by
Ukrainian immigrants, seen as from the cultural context of the Misiones province.
This record is made of melodies which are alive and present in my place of origin.
It is part of the unwritten story of our regional music, and of what is today’s Folk
scene. My personal vision of the man and the woman from the farm, humble and
owners of a profound spirituality, happiness and kindness.
Lucas, my dad, and Marcos, my uncle were and still are the bridge which connects
with my music, my polkas.
Chango Spasiuk, 1998
Besides the making of the record, there is also an ongoing study project, as from
1994, which includes field recording, video footage, and oral testimonies.
